Everytime we were in the car and could see the mountains (every day, multiple times a day) my kids would ask when we could go into the mountains?! We finally did it with my dad. Hiking in the mountains. Something I grew up doing, and still have fond memories of.
For Pioneer Day all of the kids were given handkerchiefs and learned about pioneers and pioneer children. They played "pioneers" for several days, including eating like them...
making and carrying their own hand cart...
and walking and walking and walking... around the block.
